Long-Term Traffic Management- that remains in place for a few months

Our client requested a meeting to discuss a new development and the on-going changes that would be required to ensure the safe passage of both vehicles and pedestrians.

There was an existing single-lane dual carriageway and a side road to a multi-storey car park and businesses premises. The sight line from the side road was partially obstructed by a site hoarding causing a very dangerous situation for vehicles exiting.

TGL Group Ltd recommendation was to install a mini-roundabout supported by the required road markings and signage. This had the effect of slowing the traffic down on all of the approaches and therefore allowing more time for vehicles to exit. Our recommendation resulted in a much safer working junction without the on-going cost of installing and maintaining traffic signals.

Short Term Traffic Management- from 1 day to a few weeks

The existing road layout had a dual carriageway, single lane eastbound, two lanes westbound, a mandatory cycle lane (part of the cycle superhighway) and a 6-metre wide footway on either side of the carriageway. The project required carrying out works on a bridge spanning the entire width of the highway.

Initially the client requested that the works were done using two-way temporary traffic signals, but due to there being a large volume of traffic and a nearby signal controlled junction, TGL Group Ltd advised to maintain two-way traffic (single lane dual carriageway) in three phases and install barriers on the footway either side making a continuation of the cycle lane. The local authority and TFL agreed and accepted TGL Group Ltd recommendation.

Crane operation in London

The client had informed us of the whereabouts of a large crane, a lorry and the dates that the work was to be undertaken.
TGL Group Ltd advised that they would have to pay lane rental for the sitting of the crane. Following discussions with TFL, we found the best and cheapest time for the works to be carried out saving them in the region of £8000.00.
